Welcome to the NC Demos Blog Hop! We are so glad you are here! You might have already stopped by Toni Campana’s post and know this month’s theme, but if you are just popping in this month’s theme is a challenge project.

That’s right, our project had to include the following:
Theme: Birthday
Color Scheme: Brights
Techniques: Texture and Layers (at least 3 layers)
Accent/Embellishment: DSP, Foil or other Specialty Paper.
In trying to decide what to use, my eyes kept going to my box with items from my preorder from the January to June 2022 Mini Catalog and Sale-a-bration Brochure. I realized I could use the Awesome Otters stamp set for the birthday sentiments and images. Then my eyes traveled to the Simply Marbleous 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. I found a sheet with Coastal Cabana, one of the colors in our Brights Collection. In my attempt to use embossing folders more often, I decided to use the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder for the texture. That took care of the required elements so now it was time to create.

I dry embossed a 2 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Coastal Cabana with the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine and layered it on top of the DSP (2″ x 5 1/2″) and Basic White card base (5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″). On top I placed the stamped image and sentiment on a 2 1/2″ x 2 3/4″ piece of Basic White cardstock. I used a sponge dauber to add a little Coastal Cabana ink to the edges. I colored the otter with Light and Dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends. I decided the otter needed a little something else so I stamped a birthday hat and colored it with Coastal Cabana and Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Write Markers. And yes, I fussy cut the hat before adhering it to the top of the otter. While not one for many embellishments and it wasn’t required by the challenge, I decided the card needed a little more. I added some Rhinestone Basic Jewels and Crumb Cake baker’s twine.

Thank you for letting me share my project. I hope you enjoyed a preview of two of the items available during Sale-a-bration starting January 4. Please leave me a comment to let me know what you think of my attempt at the challenge. Don’t forget to stop by and see Tracie Evans Langley’s post if you didn’t start there. I can’t wait to travel there next!

How fun! My otters came earlier this week but don’t have that cool marbled paper. I received your card today and saw you had started a blog so thought I would hop on and check it out. Happy New Year!
